A NINE-year-old boy from Kidderminster has not only taken a GCSE maths exam but achieved a grade 9 – the highest possible mark.

Lezhi Xie (known as Timmy) attends Foley Park Primary Academy, part of the Victoria Academies Trust.

The school is thrilled with Timmy’s ‘exceptional achievement’ and a ‘truly outstanding milestone’.

The school added the extraordinary accomplishment highlighted Timmy’s remarkable mathematical talent, resilience and passion for learning.

Supported by his dedicated teachers and family, Timmy sat his first GCSE maths exam last year at the age of eight, achieving an impressive grade 5.

But, determined to push his capabilities even further, the tenacious youngster worked tirelessly throughout the year to reach his ambitious goal.

Timmy’s success has been fuelled by a bespoke learning journey designed to challenge and nurture his unique strengths.

Weekly in-school tutoring sessions with Mr Harwood, who has played a pivotal role in Timmy’s progress, have provided both guidance and enrichment along the way.

Soneeta Reynolds, headteacher at Foley Park Primary Academy, said: “Timmy’s achievement is nothing short of inspirational – he is a true genius.

“It reflects not only his incredible talent and hard work, but also the dedication of our staff and the unwavering support from his family.

“We are immensely proud of him.”

Sharron Philpot, CEO at Victoria Academies Trust, added: “We’re incredibly proud to have played a part in supporting Timmy’s exceptional achievement.

“His success is a testament to the partnerships we build across our schools, families and local partners, working together to unlock extraordinary potential.”

This landmark moment is a powerful reflection of Foley Park Primary Academy’s vision – to foster excellence and provide opportunities for all learners to thrive, no matter their age.

Timmy is a shining example of what can be achieved when potential is recognised and nurtured.
