OFFICERS from Wyre Forest Police have been out and about engaging with the community as part of Neighbourhood Policing Week which began on Monday.
Foot patrols were carried out in several areas, including Burlish Top, Birchen Coppice, and Brinton Park, ensuring visibility and providing reassurance to local residents.
Members of the public and community were also welcomed to a police drop-in surgery held at Starbucks where several concerns were raised and advice and reassurance was provided. Officers contacted relevant partner agencies to help address and prevent the issues brought to their attention.
As part of their continued outreach, two police officers visited Foley Park Primary School in Kidderminster, where they spoke to year six students about their roles in Neighbourhood Policing.
They also gave helpful advice on the safe and legal use of e-scooters.
The force said: “A big thank you to the students and staff for the warm welcome – we were impressed by the thoughtful and engaging questions from the children.”
Another school visited was St Catherine’s CofE Primary in Kidderminster where officers met with The Young Leaders Group to discuss their latest ideas for their safer parking project.
The pupils were praised for their enthusiasm and coming up with some very innovative ideas to address irresponsible, dangerous and illegal parking outside schools.
There was a letter drop to local residents and the forming a high visibility line at the end of the school day.
Other activities included officers seizing a badly damaged vehicle which was found to be untaxed to ensure roads were kept safe and lawful and patrols were carried out around the Offmore and Comberton estate. There, stop searches were conducted and two vehicles were seized – one for having no tax and the other because the driver had no insurance and was driving without a licence.
And a machete was also seized from a property.
Neighbourhood Policing Week runs until Sunday, June 29, and officers will be continue to be out and about across Kidderminster, Stourport, Bewdley and the surrounding areas.
People can raise any concerns with officers they have about their local area or call the Wyre Forest Police Safer Neighbourhood Team on 101.
