THE RIBBONS of the new KEMP Hospice Boutique Charity Shop in Hagley were cut last Thursday as it opened to the public, writes Charlie Canning.
Staff, volunteers and local supporters of the Wyre Forest based charity attended the event.
Gary Barnes, the hospice’s head of retail, said “We’re absolutely thrilled to open our new shop in Hagley.
“The local response has been fantastic, and were so grateful to the community for their warm welcome.”
The shop offers a collection of women’s clothing, formal wear and premium products and all items donated help raise funds for the hospice.
The charity provides services free-of-charge care for people over the age of 55, including day hospice clinic care, occupational therapy for patients and families, counselling and emotional support to those who need it.
Gary added: “We never charge for the care and support services provided at KEMP Hospice.
“But each year we need to raise around £1.6million to ensure we can continue to be there for people.”
As the new charity shop opens it doors, the team are keen to hear from people who would like to volunteer and help establish the store in the local community.
KEMP’s volunteer co-ordinator, Kevin Powell, said “Volunteering is a fantastic way to not only support KEMP Hospice in raising funds, but a chance to meet new people and learn new skills.”
Kevin added “Quite simply we couldn’t keep our shop doors open without them.”
