THE NEW Mayor of Kidderminster has chosen three charities to support during his term of office.
Coun Doug Hine was the deputy mayor to Coun George Connolly for the last year and was elected into the top role last Thursday at Kidderminster’s Annual Town Meeting and Mayor Making. He will be supported throughout his term by his wife Ros Hine, who will serve as Mayoress.

The causes he will fundraise for include Kidderminster and District Youth Trust, which works to empower and support young people to reach their full potential and Worcestershire Wildlife Trust, which protects and enhances local wildlife across the county. And he will support Kidderminster Foodbank which provides food for individuals and families in crisis.

Coun Hine expressed his gratitude to be elected as Town Mayor.
He thanked the audience present at St George’s and paid tribute to the outgoing Mayor for his year of service to the town over the past year.

Also elected at the meeting was Coun Shazu Miah, who will serve as Deputy Mayor for the coming year.
