AN APPEAL has been launched to find volunteers for Jelleyman’s Mill in Kidderminster.
And the venue, run by Jelleyman’s Heritage Arts Charity (JHAC), is holding a volunteer open morning from 10am to 12pm next Wednesday, May 28, where people can find out more.
Located in the heart of Kidderminster on a stunning Victorian industrial site, offering a unique and picturesque setting right on the edge of the River Stour.
The inspiring Grade II listed Jelleyman’s Mill is surrounded by greenery
JHAC has a wide range of exciting volunteer opportunities available, catering to many different interests and skills.
Volunteers are needed to serve customers in the soon-to-launch community cafe, get their hands dirty in a new community garden, share their expertise through workshops, leading tours as a guide, welcoming visitors as a receptionist or meet and greeter or even cleaning, designing, sound engineering, graffiti art or music.
Visitors to the open morning will be able to find out about the different roles and how they can contribute, meet the friendly team and learn more about JHAC.
They can chat with volunteers over a free coffee and pick up a comprehensive information pack.
As well making a contribution, studies show volunteering can significantly boost mental wellbeing, provide a sense of purpose, reduce stress and increase feelings of happiness and fulfillment.
Dedicating time will support JHAC and help people with their own personal growth and happiness.
One current volunteer said it had been a very rewarding experience.
“From helping out in the early stages of the community forming to meeting so many lovely people, I always leave feeling like I’ve made a real difference.
“The team is incredibly welcoming, and there’s a real sense of community here.”
Attending the open-morning does not commit people to anything, even if they sign up as a volunteer.
JHAC operates on a flexible basis, with volunteers contributing as little or as much time as they can and want to.
There will be no pressure.
JHAC CEO Samuel Davies said: “Don’t miss this chance to explore how you can make a real difference in your community at a truly special place.
“We look forward to welcoming you.”
