England roared with pride on Tuesday as the Lionesses were honoured in a dazzling homecoming celebration outside Buckingham Palace, a fitting tribute to their historic triumph at the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025.
With flags waving, drums beating, and voices raised in song, thousands of fans lined The Mall to welcome our national heroes.

The team, fresh from their sensational victory, paraded in open-top buses draped in St George’s flags and clad in iconic “Home” shirts. From toddlers on shoulders to pensioners in face paint, England united in celebration.

The emotional crescendo came at the foot of the Queen Victoria Memorial, where the Lionesses, coaches, and staff were cheered onto a grand stage against the stunning backdrop of the Palace. Hosted by former England star Alex Scott, the ceremony struck a chord with heartfelt speeches, powerful stories of resilience, and a reminder of just how far women’s football has come.

Pop legend Heather Small brought the crowd to tears with a soaring rendition of “Proud”, while global superstar Burna Boy stunned the crowd with a surprise appearance, even sharing a celebratory dance with manager Sarina Wiegman, now a three-time European champion.

This victory marks more than just a trophy. It’s the first time England has ever defended a major international football title, and the first time a senior England team has triumphed on foreign soil. The Lionesses’ journey, building from their glorious Euro 2022 win, has redefined sporting history and inspired a generation.

Earlier in the day, Number 10 Downing Street rolled out the red carpet with a patriotic reception hosted by Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner. The famous black door was flanked by St George’s flags and red-and-white bunting, a perfect symbol of national pride.

As the sun set, fireworks burst into the summer sky and red flares lit the faces of joyful supporters. The Victoria Memorial became the heart of a nation’s celebration, as fans danced, sang, and paid tribute to the team that’s captured our hearts once again.
This is more than football. This is England. This is history. And these are our Lionesses.
