Planning approved for 1,450 new homes in Kidderminster

A MAJOR planning application for 1,450 new dewllings in a new development has been approved for land off Comberton Road in Kidderminster.

In a planning meeting which took place on October 15, the application which caused anger for local residents was approved.

The hybrid application, submitted by Taylor Wimpey, included 1,055 homes, including affordable housing, a primary school, community hub, a care home,commercial units and road access to Husum Way and Comberton Road with link road and pedestrian access to Tennyson Way.

It includes a full planning application for the demolition of 78 Comberton Road and agricultural buildings north of Heathy Mill Farm.

More than 500 people have objected to the development since the application was submitted in March 2022 – with issues regarding traffic and parking.

Taylor Wimpey will need to contribute an estimated £18,581,037 for the new schools, including a contribution for SEND department.
