CHILDREN from eight schools across the Wyre Forest were recognised for their outstanding achievements at an inaugural awards ceremony, writes Tayla O’Hara.

The Severn Academies Educational Trust held its Growing Brilliance Awards to celebrate pupils’ success in several categories – leadership, community and diversity, enrichment and personal development.

The trust covers Baxter College, Kidderminster, Stourport High School, Stourport Primary Academy, Wilden All Saints CE Primary, St Bartholomew’s CE Primary, Wolverley Sebright Academy, Far Forest Lea Memorial CE Primary Academy and Hartlebury CE Primary.

Every school nominated one pupil from each key stage for each of the four categories.

A total of 70 pupils received certificates at the ceremony which was held in the theatre at Baxter College at the end of last month. Each school also chose one outstanding overall winner.

Matthew Carpenter, chief officer of the trust, said: “We are delighted to have launched these annual awards honouring the accomplishments and contributions which our pupils make to their school communities, alongside academic effort and success.

“We have a culture that values brilliance and sets high expectations across our family of schools.

“The awards are just one example of how our trust promotes collaborative efforts that benefit our children, young people and celebrates our community.”
