STOURPORT Carnival is running a new ‘Nominate a Local Hero’ competition to celebrate their centenary year, writes Tilly Kellaway.
Following 100 years of hosting the event, the organisers want to shine a light on the town’s unsung heroes – those who go above and beyond to make Stourport a better place.
Whether it is through volunteering, supporting neighbours, organising local events, or spreading kindness, they want to hear about the people who make the community so special.
The carnival invites individuals to nominate someone they feel has made an outstanding contribution to the town – what they have done, why it matters and how it makes a difference.
The winner, who will be announced at this year’s carnival on September 6, will be honoured with a trophy, presented live on the bandstand during the awards ceremony to mark the historic occasion.
The deadline for nominations is Sunday, July 20.
