What is VE Day?

VE Day, or Victory in Europe Day, came on May 8, 1945, and was the day when Nazi Germany formally surrendered to the Allied forces, effectively ending the Second World War in Europe.

This victory was the result of years of intense conflict, with the Allies- the United Kingdom, supported by America, the Soviet Union, and France – fighting against German forces.

This year, May 8, 2025, marks the 80th anniversary of the defeat of fascism and the restoration of peace.

VE Day remains a significant moment in history, remembered with ceremonies, parades, and reflections on the war’s immense toll.
