Singers diva show dedicated to mum coming to Bromsgrove's Artrix

Tristan Harris 28th May, 2025

A SHOW which was inspired by a mum’s dying suggestion is heading to Bromsgrove’s Artrix.

It all began three years ago when Shelley-Davina Burton’s mum Davina-Ann died of ovarian cancer.

Before she died, she said to Shelley-Davina: “I have seen you in many shows – even in the West End but why darling why don’t you just do your own show.”

With those words in her head, Shelley-Davina said: “I did just that. Out of the amazing memory of my mum who was an absolute diva, I put this show together in memory of her and those words.

“She is always my inspiration and, like my mum was in life, this show is so much fun and larger than life.

“It’s a dedication and celebration of the greatest diva of my life – my mum.”

For the ‘Diva and the Decades’ show, Shelley has hand-picked amazing tunes by some of the greatest divas of all time from past and present.

Among them are Tina Turner, Whitney Houston, The Supremes, Dolly Parton, Dusty Springfield Cher, Beyonce and more.

The show is billed as a ‘feel good dance and singalong show jam-packed with amazing hits’ as it celebrates the powerhouse voices and iconic performances of the biggest divas in music history.

The talented Shelley-Davina is backed by other remarkable singers and captivating dancers.

The team behind the production pride themselves on delivering melodic harmonies, soulful renditions and high-energy choreography.

Shelley-Davina, who is from Coventry, cannot wait to be back in the Midlands when her show comes to Artrix on June 6.

She said: “Embrace your inner diva, get your divas together and book now.”

Tickets are £22 for children and £25 for adults.

A percentage of the profits go to a charity started in her mum’s name.
