Specsavers' sites in Kidderminster voted among 'best places to work in the world'

Kidderminster Editorial 2nd Dec, 2024

THREE Specsavers’ manufacturing and distribution sites based in Kidderminster have been named among the world’s best places to work.

The teams from Vision Labs, Lens Online and International Glazing Services (IGS) have been recognised in the Fortune World’s 25 Best Workplaces 2024, alongside the rest of the Specsavers’ businesses.

Fortune Magazine and Great Place to Work placed the optical and audiology business in 16th place in the survey – the highest ranking for a UK business. The sites fought off competition during the process which saw 7.4million responses representing 20million employees worldwide submitted.

Specsavers CEO, John Perkins, says: ‘This is an incredible achievement, and it is a credit to all our colleagues and partners who work hard to make Specsavers such a great place to work. I could not be prouder.

“Our ranking among so many other brilliant organisations on this list continues to drive our ambition in making life at Specsavers truly special.’

To be considered for the list, companies must be identified as outstanding global employers with recognition on at least five Best WorkplacesTM lists in from across the world during 2023 or early 2024.

Specsavers colleagues said the opportunities offered to develop and grow as well as the culture and level of care for employees were the main reasons for rating the business so highly.

This year, Specsavers was ranked eighth in the European list and 23rd in the top 50 Best WorkplacesTM in the UK. Overall, it has been certified as a Great Place to Work in 12 countries and was recently ranked in first place in Denmark.

Organisations are assessed on their efforts to create great workplaces and positively impact people and communities across multiple countries around the world. Companies must demonstrate how they support employees with personalised services and meet their needs.

Between them, the three businesses; Vision Labs, Lens Online and International Glazing Services (IGS) provide lens surfacing as well as stocking and distributing lenses and contact lenses to Specsavers UK optical businesses.
