Stourport residents can have their say on plan for Gilgal

Holly Clement 26th Nov, 2024

AN UPDATE has been given to a document which offers guidance on the character and historic interest for Stourport.

Wyre Forest District Council officers reviewed the Conservation Area Character Appraisal for the Gilgal area of Stourport.

The document looks at the history of the area and makes suggestions for the future management of the conservation area – including how buildings should be preserved and what enhancements could be made.

Residents and local businesses now have the chance to have their say on the updated appraisal and the management plan.

Councillor Dan Moorhead, cabinet member for economic regeneration, planning and green agenda said: “The Gilgal Conservation Area encompasses the old settlement of Lower Mitton that predates the adjoining Georgian town of Stourport-on-Severn.

“The area was designated a Conservation Area back in 1991 and this latest review analyses the history, character and appearance of the area and looks at what makes it special.

“We would like anyone living, working or with an interest in the Gilgal area to get involved and give us their views on the Conservation Area Character Appraisal.”

The consultation closes at 5pm on December 16.
