SVR ready for some 'Singin' on the Train' between Kidderminster and Bridgnorth

A POPULAR event which combines music and trains returns to the Severn Valley Railway this weekend after the success of last year’s outing, writes Jeanna Karcz.

‘Singin’ on the Train’, which takes place tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday, August 17, sees visitors board charming steam locomotives between Kidderminster and Bridgnorth.

As they travel along the line, they can step off at various stations along the way to enjoy the choir performances.

During sunset, an evening choir concert will bring all seven featured choirs together for a performance underneath the station’s glass roof.

Food and drinks will also be available throughout from the award-winning King and Castle pub not far from the platform.

Lewis Maddox, the SVR’s visitor engagement manager, said: “Throughout the day, stations along the route will come alive with music, creating a festival atmosphere that celebrates the best of choral tradition.

“You might also want to stop off at The Engine House at Highley, where real ales and hearty pub fare will be served in a relaxed setting overlooking the railway.

“Whether you’re a music lover, a railway enthusiast, or simply looking for a unique day out, Singin’ on the Train promises a joyful celebration of heritage and harmony.”

All-day travel is available with a Freedom of the Line ticket, though Short Journey tickets are also available for purchase either in advance or on the day, with standard fares applying.

Tickets for the evening concert are booked separately.
