THIEVES smashed the window of a car to steal a handbag at a Kidderminster nature reserve.

They struck at the car park at Hurcott Woods, off Hurcott Lane, between midday and 1pm on Tuesday.

The navy blue handbag which was stolen contained cash and cards.

A white van was seen in the area at the time and police have appealed for the driver to get in touch.

Officers have been examining dash cam and CCTV footage. And they are keen for witnesses, anyone in the area at the time who saw or heard anything suspicious and those who have information relating to the theft to call them on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 1111.

Police have also urged people to report any suspicious behaviour around vehicles by calling 101 or 999 if a crime is in progress.

And they have reiterated the message to drivers that valuables should be removed from vehicles and cars and vans should be locked when being left unattended.
