A MAN has bitten three police officers in Worcestershire whilst resisting arrest.
Last weekend (Saturday, June 27) three officers were assaulted after responding to a call of a disturbance in the county.
The bites broke the skin and left clear bite marks on the officers, with all three receiving hospital treatment.
A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault on emergency workers, burglary and criminal damage. He has been released on police bail. No-one else was injured in the incident.
Chief Superintendent Edd Williams said: “Police officers expect to face challenging situations during their duties, but violence against them is despicable. It is an affront on public safety and will not be tolerated.
“Assaults on emergency workers are criminal acts and will be dealt with accordingly.”
West Mercia Police have not shared the exact time and location of the incident to protect the identity of the officers involved.
