A SPECIAL cream tea day will celebrate the one-year anniversary of the Jelleyman’s Heritage Arts Charity CEO Samuel Davies taking up his post.
The event will take place at Jelleymans Mill’s charming riverside cafe The Bungalow from 12pm to 3pm next Friday, June 27.
Visitors are invited to enjoy a classic English afternoon cream tea and Wyre Forest MP Mark Garnier will be there – a year after his previous visit where the charity outlined its future plans.
Samuel said: “We’re incredibly excited to welcome the community and Mr Garnier to The Bungalow for this special occasion.
“It’s been a transformative year and we’re immensely proud of what we’ve accomplished, thanks to the hard work of our team and the continued support of our community.
“National Cream Tea Day provides the perfect opportunity to reflect on our journey and look forward to even more success.”
Looking back
A year ago, the buildings around Jelleyman’s Mill on Puxton Lane were largely unused, and the site was in danger of becoming derelict.
Since then, the charity has worked tirelessly to revitalise the area.
Twelve office and workshop spaces have been brought into use by small businesses and creatives and regular events, including the flagship JelleyFest, have been successfully held.
The venue is now home to the Crafty Jelley Wellbeing Centre and The Bungalow Cafe.
A Community Garden project is currently under way and others now use the centre to host a variety of classes, including art, drama, ceramics, and yoga, with a soon-to-launch weekly messy play session for young children.
The event will highlight the charity’s commitment to preserving heritage arts and engaging the local community.
Attendees will have the chance to learn more about Jelleyman’s Heritage Arts Charity’s schemes and witness first-hand the positive impact of their work, all whilst enjoying a classic afternoon of cream tea, music, and entertainment.
