RESIDENTS across Worcestershire wanting to apply for free home upgrade grant funding have just over a fortnight left to apply, writes Freddy Pope.
The government cash can be used by people to help save energy and make homes warmer but applications must be in by the deadline of September 30.
Designed to improve comfort and energy efficiency of homes across the county, the scheme also aims to reduce carbon emissions and energy bills at no cost for residents.
To be eligible, households must not use mains gas to heat their home and have a gross annual income of less than £36,000.
They also must have a current EPC (Home Energy Performance Certificate) rating of D to G.
People can visit gov.uk/find-energy-certificate to see if their EPC is valid and they are eligible.
Worcestershire County Council’s cabinet member for environment, Emma Stokes, said: “We’re really pleased with the number of households that have applied for the funding so far, but we know there are still a lot of residents across the county that haven’t applied and could hugely benefit from this funding.
“I’d encourage anyone, who is eligible for the scheme, to get in touch and see what measures could be installed in their homes to help reduce energy bills and make homes warmer.”
Those who qualify for the scheme will undergo a free technical survey to see which measures are best appropriate for their homes.
Homeowners and tenants in Worcestershire could reduce energy bills through a variety of measures such as internal and external wall insulation, loft and cavity wall insulation, solar panels and many more schemes.
