STEAM LOCOMOTIVE ‘Tornado’ passed through Bromsgrove earlier today (Friday) while heading to a depot in Bristol, writes Neil Gordon.
The locomotive, number 60163, was operating under its own power when it passed through Bromsgrove at 12.45pm when travelling from Peterborough to Bristol, where it will work a railtour.
The Peppercorn class A1 Pacific locomotive was completed in 2008 by owners the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust at a cost of £3million, and was the first mainline steam locomotive to be built for the UK since 1961.
On Sunday ‘Tornado’ will haul The Railway Touring Company’s ‘Royal Duchy’ excursion from Bristol to Cornwall and return, before it then goes to London.
