TRIBUTES have been paid to former Wyre Forest District Councillor and Bewdley community champion Nigel Knowles who has passed away.
Mr Knowles served on the authority for 19 years – from 1990 to 2002 and 2012 to 2019 representing the Franche and Habberley North ward. He also served as Chairman of the Council from 1996 to1997 and as Group Leader from 2015 to 2019.
Alongside his work as a councillor, Mr Knowles was a talented writer and wrote several works including historical books, novels and plays – some which were performed locally.
Coun John Byng, Chairman of Wyre Forest District Council, said: “We are extremely saddened to learn of Nigel’s passing.
“Nigel was a prominent figure in the Bewdley community for many years and will be remembered fondly.
“On behalf of the whole Council I would like to send my condolences to Nigel’s family and friends.
“Our thoughts are with them at this sad time.”
