A ROAD in Bewdley which was due to be shut for 19 days from next Monday, September 30, has been cancelled.
The closure on Dowles Road was due to be undertaken so the electricity cable and gas mains can be replaced.
But, Coun Dan Morehead has confirmed that an alternative option had been found by the utilities companies which prevented the need for the closure of Dowles Road to take place.
He added: “I’m really pleased to have been able to get this outcome for you all and would like to thank the team at WCC Highways for being so tenacious on our behalf.
Severn Trent Water has applied for a full closure of Dowles Road from December 2 to 6.
Discussion are ongoing still for this one but obviously as it stands a much shorter closure and I can update on that one as we go.
Coun Morehead added: “Thank you all too for your patience in what I know has been a stressful time.”
Road Closure –
One road closure which will be going ahead will be Ellesmere Drive in Bewdley for three days from October 14.
Part of Ellesmere Drive will close from its junction with Laxton Drive to its junction with U10210 Coniston Way.
This is due to new ducting installation by OCU Group.
Access will be given to frontages only while the work is being undertaken.
Drivers are urged to avoid the area during that time and diversions will be in place.
Diversions
The alternative route will take motorists along Laxton Drive, Bramley Way, Coniston Way, and part of Ellesmere Drive which is not shut. Those going the other way can take the same route in the opposite direction.
