STAFF at Bentleys and Maddison are celebrating after winning Stourport-on-Severn’s best dressed window display competition for the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
The ‘Best Dressed Shop Window: VE Day 80’ contest was organised by Stourport Town Council and, once entries were submitted, residents voted for their favourite on the ‘We Love Stourport Past and Present’ Facebook page.
The Mayor of Stourport, Coun John Thomas, presented staff at the store with their winners’ certificate yesterday on the anniversary of VE Day.
The Mayor and the council thanked everyone who took part and urged people to go and have a look at all the entries.
The Bentleys and Maddison in Stourport is a family-run independent card and gift shop owned by Stephen and Julie McHale. It sells a range of seasonal cards and gifts, as well as fine Belgian chocolates, Jellycat toys and more.
All the staff, including Kirsty Fisher, Belinda Edwards, Maureen Griffiths and Yvonne Savory, worked together on the window design for the competition which challenged participants to work to
‘A Shared Moment of Celebration’ theme which reflected both VE DAY 80 and Stourport-on-Severn.
Kirsty said: “A lot of hard work went into the window, we all came up with ideas and then put them into practice.
“It was lovely to win on such a special and important occasion.”
