Worcestershire goat predicting fate of Lionesses at EURO 2025

Kidderminster Editorial 5th Jul, 2025

A GOAT from Honeybourne is predicting the fate for the Lionesses and the Wales team in their EURO 2025 games, writes Tayla O’Hara.

Russo, whose name is inspired by Lioness Alessia Russo, is an eight-year-old African pygmy goat trading grazing for football reviews and will convey her views on the matches for the upcoming Group D games being played on Saturday, July 5.

It is not good news for the Lionesses this weekend, as Russo predicts defeat for England against France, while Wales are backed by the goat to succeed in their initial game this tournament against the Netherlands.

Russo makes her predictions using two feeding stations decorated with each country’s flag.

Matt Parker is the zoo manager at All Things Wild in Honeybourne, where Russo resides.

He said: “Russo really is ‘the GOAT’ when it comes to making decisions and is one of our more confident animals, so it would not surprise me in the slightest if her predictions turned out to be correct.

“We’re all rooting for the Lionesses to retain their European title – even if Russo isn’t convinced about the opening game.”

Sian Smith is from Shakespeare’s England – the official tourism body for Warwickshire which works closely with All Things Wild.

She added: “If Russo’s mystic performance in front of the TV cameras is anything to go by, she could well be about to add a new dimension to it.”
