WYRE Forest PCSO David Foden will be taking on London Marathon for Parkinson’s UK after his dad was diagnosed with the disease 20 years ago.

David has been running for around five years now, but it will be his first marathon when he pounds the streets of the capital on April 27.

This is also the first time David, who will be joined on the day by his daughter Lucy, has committed to fund-raising on a marathon scale too. The cause is one close to his heart.

David said: “My dad Brian was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease 20 years ago and I have seen this illness take him from being a strong, dependable and caring parent to being a shadow of his former self.

“Loss of mobility, speech then cancer and now dementia have all been part of his long Parkinson’s journey.

“By donating you will help fund care and research into this cruel illness which is the UK’s fastest growing neurodegenerative disease.

“So please donate, if you can, or share my appeal as much as you are able to. Thank you.”

David has set himself a fundraising target of £2,500 and has already had more than £600 pledged.
