CHILDREN from Little Trinity Nursery in Kidderminster celebrated St George’s Day with a variety of activities, including making swords, shields and crowns and playing themed games.
They showcased their creativity by painting shields and swords adorned with the English flag and learning about the legendary St George, the patron saint of England.
His feast day falls on April 23 and has been celebrated in England since 1222.
Nursery Manager Gaynor Carter was delighted with the way the activities went.
“The children were incredibly imaginative, and it was wonderful to see them engage with the story of St George.
“Celebrating this day allowed us to participate in a national tradition and instill a sense of pride and history in the little ones.”
St George is not only the patron saint of England but also of soldiers, archers, cavalry, chivalry, farmers, field workers, riders, and saddlers.
His legacy is celebrated by Christian churches in various countries and regions, including Bulgaria, Ethiopia, Greece, Georgia, Portugal, Romania, Syria, Lebanon, Catalonia, Alcoi, Aragon, and Rio de Janeiro.
