DAN Rowbottom secured his first-ever race win at Croft in the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC).
The Kidderminster driver roared to victory in race two after just missing out on a podium place in race one in North Yorkshire.
Despite finishing the weekend with a 15th place finish, Rowbottom now sits third in the drivers’ standings behind runaway leaders Tom Ingram and Ash Sutton.
Rowbottom said: “It was good. The soft tyre didn’t quite turn on as quickly as I hoped and I was briefly stuck behind Dan [Cammish], but once we got through it was relatively straightforward.
“I did have a vibration on the front left and I was desperately just hoping that the tyre would hang on, but I’m happy with that – third win of the season.”
Rowbottom returned to the track following the BTCC’s mid-season break.
And the Kidderminster driver finished fourth in the first race of the weekend.
Rowbottom then claimed a maiden race win at Croft as the NAPA Racing UK driver secured his third triumph of the season.
He made his way from fourth on the grid to take the race win as he picked off the three drivers ahead of him one-by-one.
Rowbottom ended the weekend by finishing 15th in race three and he now sits third in the drivers’ standings on 195 points.
The BTCC season continues at Thruxton on the weekend of August 16 and 17.
