KIDDERMINSTER CC remain winless this season after suffering a six-wicket defeat against Worfield.

The visitors posted 280-4 from their 50 overs at Davenport Park as Daniel Lategan fell just short of a century.

However, Worfield opener Will Cook set his side on their way to victory as the hosts reached the required target in 43.2 overs.

The result means Kidderminster sit 11th in the Birmingham and District Premier League Premier Division Two table.

Kidderminster won the toss and elected to bat as Ravan Chahal (1-51) trapped opener Andrew Kimberlin (14) LBW.

And fellow opener Lucas Ingram (25) also fell to an LBW as Shahrukh Khan (1-52) claimed the scalp.

However, Lategan (96) and Nathan Jukes (71) produced a stunning 141-run third-wicket partnership.

Lategan went at almost a run-a-ball only to fall four runs short of a century.

The pair both fell in quick succession to the bowling of Arfan Khan (1-44) and Matthew Rees (1-39).

However, Ben Griffin (38 not out) blasted some quickfire runs from just 17 deliveries supported by Mateen Khan (26 not out).

Kidderminster eventually closed on 280-4 with the visitors hopeful of securing a first win of the season.

However, Worfield made a strong start with the bat as openers Cook (96) and Ross Aucott (65) put on 117 runs for the first wicket.

Dylan Griffiths (1-67) eventually made the breakthrough as Aman Hussain (40) combined well with Cook to take Worfield close to the 200-run mark.

Kidderminster removed Hussain as B C Clements (1-31) claimed the scalp only for Rishin Patabedige (43 not out) to score quick runs.

Zeshan Bashir (1-66) finally removed Cook just four runs short of a century while Lategan (1-38) picked up the wicket of Joe Wright (5).

However, Patabedige and Greg Wright (six not out) guided Worfield to a six-wicket victory.

Kidderminster are next in action against Tamworth on Saturday, May 24 with the game to begin at 12pm (midday) at Hints Road.
