CRICKET - Stourport-on-Severn fail to chase down 104 in Ombersley defeat

STOURPORT-on-Severn CC failed to chase down a target of 104 in a 29-run defeat against Ombersley 2nds.

The home side won the toss and elected to field and took the final nine Ombersley wickets for the loss of just 50 runs at Walshes Meadow.

Ombersley openers Tom Oakley (30) and Harry Annable (24) put on 53 runs for the first wicket before Siddarth S Ahhuja (4-19) bowled the latter to spark a dramatic collapse.

Naeem Abbas (5-27) ripped through Ombersley’s top order as he removed Declan Lines (1), Oakley, Jake Howl (0), Tommy Edwards (7) and Ben Hallam (0).

This left Ombersley on 64-6 before Nikhil Jose (1-7) ended Henry Wilde’s (25) late resistance to bowl the visitors out for 103 in 42.1 overs.

However, Stourport struggled with the bat as openers Samuel Foley (4) and Peter Hawk (17) fell inside the first six overs.




The wickets continued to tumble with only Ryan Derrick (11) and Matt Hatfield (13) making double figures.

Ombersley bowler Alex Parker (8-31) took a remarkable eight wickets while Howl (2-39) took the other two with Stourport all out for just 74 in 24.1 overs.
