WORCESTERSHIRE CCC were skittled for just 81 runs in their second innings in a six-wicket defeat against Durham in the County Championship.
The Pears suffered a second innings collapse in a low-scoring affair at New Road.
And the defeat means Worcestershire remain bottom of the County Championship Division One table after four matches.
Durham won the toss and elected to bowl and made several early inroads as Worcestershire’s struggles with the bat continued.
Openers Gareth Roderick (4) and Jake Libby (9) both fell for single-figure scores while Rob Jones (3) also fell cheaply to leave the Pears on 22-3.
New signing Henry Nicholls (42) top scored on debut with Brett D’Oliveira (28), Ethan Brookes (27) and Adam Hose (23) the only other batters to reach double figures.
Worcestershire’s tail order offered little resistance as Durham’s Jake Ball (5-47) claimed a five-for.
However, the Pears responded superbly with the ball to bowl Durham out for just 136.
A flurry of early wickets left Durham in trouble on 58-6 as Tom Taylor (3-36) accounted for Ben McKinney (24) and Will Rhodes (17).
The visitors rallied courtesy of knocks from George Drissell (31), Graham Clark (16) and Ball (13 not out) as the Pears took a slender 26-run lead into their second innings.
However, Worcestershire endured a nightmare start, losing their first three wickets inside four overs.
Roderick (0) went for a duck after three balls while Libby (2) and Jones (0) quickly departed the crease.
Nicholls (25) again looked to steady the innings only for another flurry of wickets to leave the Pears on 64-8.
Only Hose (15) and Matthew Waite (10) reached double figures as Durham took control of the game.
Prolific spells from Ben Raine (4-20), Codi Yusuf (4-26) and Ball (2-27) saw the Pears bowled out for just 81.
Durham needed just 108 runs for victory but lost Lees (2) in the third over.
Further wickets fell to give the Pears hope as Waite (2-21) claimed a couple of scalps.
However, Ollie Robinson (22 not out) and Clark (20 not out) guided Durham to a comfortable six-wicket success.
Worcestershire are next in action against Sussex on Friday, May 9 with the game to start at 11am at the County Ground.
