BEWDLEY Town finished 10th in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Division One after a 2-1 home defeat to Abingdon United in their final game of the season.

The result, played out in front of 75 fans, meant the visitors qualified for the play-offs.

The match was pretty even to start with as both teams created chances, although no clear-cut ones.

But Bewdley broke the deadlock when Ben Espley found himself in space,  rounded the keeper and slid the ball home from a tight angle.

Abington pushed  for the equaliser and Bewdley keeper Kai Lloyd was in fine form, keeping them out.

Both teams battled in the second half and it was 1-1 in the 79th minute. A long ball caught out the Bewdley defence and Nat Robinson slotted home.

Both Bewdley and Abingdon searched for the winner.

And United found it in the sixth minute of injury time when the ball was cut back for Freddy Duhnam to finish and give United the win they needed to earn a play-off semi-final against Clanfield.

The Bewdley fans were epic thoughout to game and gave a players a rousing ovation as they left pitch.
