ZAK Brown scored a fine brace as Kidderminster Harriers beat Peterborough Sports 3-0 to keep the pressure up on leaders Scunthorpe United, writes Neil Gordon.

Brown’s second-half double sealed the points for Harriers after Tope Obadeyi put Harriers ahead before the break at Aggborough.

Kidderminster remain second in the National League North table on 79 points, just two points behind leaders Scunthorpe United who beat Southport.

A crowd of 2,825 watched Harriers secure their fifth consecutive home win and fifth clean sheet in six matches, as Phil Brown’s side extended their unbeaten run in the league to nine games.

Harriers took the lead on 16 minutes when Obadeyi headed David Worrall’s excellent cross from the right into the Sports net as the Reds looked to complete a double over the Turbines.

Obadeyi had almost given Harriers the lead five minutes earlier only for former Kidderminster man Michael Gash to clear his shot off the line.

Kidderminster looked to extend their lead with Ashley Hemmings, Maz Kouhyar and Worrall all probing the Peterborough goal, while the visitors seldom troubled the home defence.

After the interval Harriers stepped up a gear as Obadeyi burst down the left straight from kick-off and sent over a firm cross but the chance came to nothing, before the hard-working Amari Morgan-Smith flashed his shot across goal.

The Reds continued to press for a second goal and doubled their lead on 68 minutes following a rare Peterborough foray into the Harriers half.

Harriers cleared a Sports throw-in and launched the ball up to Brown who turned towards goal and drew the goalkeeper off his line before finding the net to score his first goal since Boxing Day.

And just six minutes later Brown strode into the visitors penalty box before blasting in his second of the game.

A goal avalanche failed to materialise as Kidderminster ran out worthy winners and Phil Brown rang the changes giving Joe Foulkes game-time on his return from injury.

Kidderminster are next in action against Buxton on Saturday, April 5 with kick-off 3pm at Silverlands Stadium.
