KIDDERMINSTER Harriers kept their title hopes alive with a crucial 1-0 win against league leaders Scunthorpe United.
A second-half goal from Maz Kouhyar settled the game at Aggborough while both managers saw red late on in a chaotic end to the contest.
The result means Harriers sit fourth in the National League North table, five points behind table toppers Scunthorpe with a game in-hand.
And Kidderminster assistant manager Neil McDonald admits Harriers are hunting down the teams above them in the table with eight matches left to play.
McDonald said: “It was a fantastic result, we’ve closed the gap which is what we set out to do and kept another clean sheet, it was excellent all round.
“It keeps our really good run going, we’re chasing, we’re trying to hunt them all down now.
“Football is all about confidence, the dynamics and the partnerships are all working fantastically well, we’re scoring goals for fun.
“We’re just taking each game as it comes, it’s going to be very close, we have to hold our nerve and keep our emotions in tact.”
The game’s only goal came five minutes after half time when Kouhyar’s deep cross went in off the angle of bar and post.
Kidderminster are next in action against Needham Market on Saturday, March 22 with kick-off at 3pm at Aggborough.
