PHIL Brown wants Kidderminster Harriers to keep their season alive following a 1-1 draw away at Leamington.

Harriers took the lead courtesy of a fine strike from Ashley Hemmings only for George Ward to level the game for the Brakes in the second half at the Your Co-Op Community Stadium.

The result means Kidderminster sit fourth in the National League North table, eight points behind leaders Scunthorpe United with a game in-hand.

And Brown admits his side need to stay within touching distance of whoever sits top of the table with just 10 games left to play this season.

Brown said: “I always think it’s two [points] dropped when you come away from home and play in the manner like we did in the first half.

“We were one-nil up, it could have been a lot more than one, I didn’t think we needed a second goal with the mentality we’ve shown in the last few games.

“It’s never an easy place to come to, is it a point gained? At places like Leamington you probably have to say yes it’s a point gained.

“But the way we played for two thirds of the game we should have been comfortably out of sight. If we get a second goal, I think it was game over.

“We’re in a rich of vein of form but we have to keep the season alive, we’ve got to hang onto the shirttails of whoever is at the top.

“If it goes to the end of the season then it’s all about pressure and all about bottle and I’ve got a good group of players to be able to handle that.”

Kidderminster broke the deadlock on 31 minutes when Hemmings turned sharply on the edge of the penalty area and fired a powerful effort into the bottom corner.

However, the Brakes equalised after the break as Owen Farmer floated a cross into the box and Ward powered a header into the net.

Kidderminster are next in action against South Shields on Saturday, March 15 with kick-off at 3pm at the 1st Cloud Arena.
