PHIL Brown admits his side are missing the ‘final piece of the jigsaw’ after Kidderminster Harriers played out a frustrating goalless draw with Marine.
Both teams hit the woodwork in an entertaining affair although neither side managed to break the deadlock at Aggborough.
The result means Kidderminster sit 10th in the National League North table and Brown admits his side need to show more belief in the final third.
Brown said: “We seem to be huffing and puffing in the final third and not really believing we’ve got that quality that we had at the start of the season but we have.
“That belief only comes with end product, I think we’re getting there and that final piece of the jigsaw is just letting us down at the moment.
“The target on our back will be there all season, people know who we are and what we’re capable of, teams don’t come here to entertain and that’s their prerogative.
“The alarm bells started ringing when we got the team sheet and they made four changes and they changed their system which we didn’t expect.
“The only fault of the players was we didn’t get an early goal to open the game up and then we could have lost it which is the daft part of a game of football.
“We’re doing something right, it’s just the final piece is the frustrating part.”
Marine almost broke the deadlock on nine minutes as Christian Dibble produced a fine acrobatic save diving high to his left to keep out Owen Robinson’s free-kick from 20-yards out.
Harriers went close to an opener when Ashley Hemmings headed Maliq Cadogan’s cross from the right inches past the post.
And Hemmings then crossed for Amari Morgan-Smith who sent a header over the bar from six-yards out despite beating the Marine goalkeeper to the ball.
The home side had another chance deep into first-half injury time as Hemmings saw his shot from 25-yards out pushed behind by Matty Corran.
Just past the hour mark, Jack Lambert delivered a cross from the left which hit the top of the crossbar.
At the other end, Dibble made another crucial stop to deny substitute Fin Sinclair-Smith with the Harriers stopper quick off his line to dive at the feet of the winger.
And Marine almost stole the points on 75 minutes when Adam Thomas saw his flicked header at the near post from a corner come back off the crossbar.
Kidderminster are next in action against Peterborough Sports on Saturday, October 26 with kick-off at 3pm at Lincoln Road.
