PHIL Brown admits Kidderminster Harriers ‘needed a response’ following a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Leamington.

A goal from Joe Foulkes on the hour mark ensured Kidderminster returned to winning ways at Aggborough.

The result means Harriers sit fourth in the National League North table, two points behind leaders Curzon Ashton.

And Brown praised his side’s response against the Brakes following a heavy defeat at King’s Lynn Town in their last outing.

Brown said: “Given the result in midweek, we needed a response and a reply to keep everybody interested, we needed to arrest the situation and put that to bed.

“Mentally we looked well-tuned to what was required to win the game. We didn’t give ourselves a mountain to climb, which we have done on other occasions.

“I didn’t know this division before I came here and now I do know quite a bit about the managers and players and they’re not really into the entertainment side.

“Sometimes you have to grind [out results] and we got the three points, sometimes you have to revert and change your style of play and sacrifice a little bit of football to try and get a result.”

The game’s only goal came on 60 minutes as Foulkes headed in Ashley Hemmings’ cross from the left at the back post from close range.

Kidderminster are next in action away at AFC Fylde in the FA Trophy on Saturday, December 7 with kick-off at 3pm at Mill Farm Stadium.
