PHIL Brown felt Kidderminster Harriers were ‘humiliated’ following a heavy 4-0 defeat away at King’s Lynn Town which saw their eight-game unbeaten run come to an end.
Harriers suffered their heaviest defeat of the season at the Walks Stadium as Jonny Margetts netted a brace while Josh McCammon and Finlay Barnes also found the net for the home side while Kidderminster had Kam Kandola sent off just before the hour mark.
And Brown took responsibility for the defeat after admitting he failed to properly prepare his players for the fixture.
Brown said: “We looked a bit thin, stretched and overwhelmed and we didn’t adapt to the style of football or the conditions and all of that comes down to people’s mentality.
“When we’ve got our strongest team out, I’d be brave enough to say we’re a match for anybody in this division.
“I hold myself responsible for not preparing the players for this kind of football, we were demolished by the opposition, they wanted it more than us.
“That’s the part that is hurting me, we’ve been given a lesson in non-league football, we didn’t roll our sleeves up, we were humiliated.
“We can’t disrespect the opposition and that’s what we’ve done, that’s why I hold my hands up as a manager.
“We have to dress ourselves down, this horrible and unprepared performance can not linger, it will be addressed, we have to learn from it.”
King’s Lynn broke the deadlock on 23 minutes when Margetts headed in Josh Hmami’s corner from the left at the near post.
Harriers spurned a golden chance to draw level as King’s Lynn goalkeeper Patrick Boyes parried the ball into the path of Amari Morgan-Smith who failed to turn home the rebound from six-yards out.
And the home side doubled their lead one minute before the break as McCammon stole in at the near post after Harriers failed to deal with Freddie Sass’s cross from the left.
King’s Lynn all but sealed the points on 54 minutes when Barnes placed a first time effort into the bottom right corner from Hmami’s pass.
Harriers then had Kandola sent off after he received a second yellow card for tripping Margetts just outside the penalty area.
And the home side made the extra man count on 63 minutes when Margetts placed a shot into the bottom right corner following a corner.
Kidderminster are next in action against Leamington on Saturday, November 30 with kick-off at 3pm at Aggborough Stadium.
