KIDDERMINSTER Harriers Women clinched the league title and promotion with a 3-0 victory against Knowle Ladies in their final game of the season.

After Ellie McGovern put Harriers ahead, substitute Mia Badland struck twice to seal the points and the title at Stourport High School.

The victory saw Kidderminster leapfrog Lye Town at the top of the West Midlands Regional Women’s League Premier Division table.

And the win means Harriers can celebrate a league and cup double after lifting the WFA Sunday Cup last month.

Kidderminster will play in the Women’s National League at Step Four next season.

Harriers saw their original game against Knowle postponed last weekend with the visitors unable to field a side.

Despite forfeiting the fixture, the league confirmed the game would take place the following midweek instead.

Kidderminster spurned a golden chance to take the lead on 13 minutes as Amber Lawrence saw her penalty saved by the foot of the Knowle goalkeeper.

And Lawrence hit the crossbar later in the half as Harriers pushed for the opening goal.

The home side went close again on the half-hour mark as Millie Rogers shot inches past the post on the half-volley inside the penalty area.

However, Harriers eventually broke the deadlock on the stroke of half time when McGovern fired a trademark effort into the net from outside the penalty area.

Kidderminster introduced Badland from the bench on the hour mark.

And Badland took just five minutes to make an impact when she tapped home Sophie Levick’s free-kick.

Badland doubled her tally for the game eight minutes from time as she powered home following a driving run from Izzie Whittick.

Harriers comfortably saw out the remaining minutes to confirm promotion and the title with victory against the league’s bottom club.
