BETH Gallagher scored a brace as Kidderminster Harriers Women beat Shifnal Town Ladies 3-0 to move one win away from promotion and the league title.
Gallagher netted twice to put Harriers in command before substitute Eloise Harris sealed the points at Stourport High School.
The result means Kidderminster sit second in the West Midlands Regional Women’s League Premier Division table.
Harriers trail leaders Lye Town by a single point but crucially have a game in-hand on the table toppers.
Leaders Lye have played all of their fixtures which means Kidderminster will secure promotion if they win their final game of the season.
Harriers will also secure promotion with a point due to having a better goal difference than Lye.
Kidderminster spurned an early chance to break the deadlock as Amber Lawrence squared the ball to Gallagher who saw her effort saved by the Shifnal goalkeeper.
However, Harriers broke the deadlock on six minutes as Gallagher’s left-footed strike found the net.
Shifnal somehow failed to draw level moments later as Kidderminster goalkeeper Ellie-Mae Locke produced a stunning triple save to keep Harriers in front.
And Gallagher doubled the home side’s lead on 13 minutes with another cool finish from inside the penalty area.
Harriers had chances to extend their lead before the break as Chiara Stokes saw a goal ruled out for offside while Millie Rogers powered a shot over the crossbar.
The hosts made sure of the points two minutes from time when substitute Harris fired a superb strike into the top left corner from outside the box.
Kidderminster finish their season against bottom-of-the-table Knowle Ladies on Sunday, May 18 with kick-off at 2pm at the club’s Centre of Sporting Excellence.
