KIDDERMINSTER Harriers Women reached the third round of the Women’s FA Cup for the first time in their history following a dramatic penalty shootout win against Stourbridge.
The game went to penalties following a one-all draw in regulation time at Aggborough Stadium.
And Harriers eventually triumphed 4-2 on penalties to reach the third round of the competition for the first time in their history after knocking a side who play two levels above them.
Kidderminster, who play at Tier Five in the West Midlands Regional League Premier Division, stunned the visitors on 28 minutes when Eloise Harris broke the deadlock with a powerful effort.
However, Tier Three Stourbridge, who play in the Northern Premier Division, drew level on 77 minutes as Leonie Joyce smashed home from close range to send the game to penalties.
Harriers made the perfect start in the shootout after scoring their first two penalties while Stourbridge failed to convert either of their first two spot kicks as Kidderminster goalkeeper Ellie-Mai Locke produced heroics between the sticks.
Kidderminster eventually sealed a 4-2 win in the shootout and will host Women’s Championship side Blackburn Rovers in the third round on Sunday, December 8.
