STOURPORT Swifts surrendered a second-half lead in a 2-1 defeat away at league leaders Lichfield City.

Swifts went ahead courtesy of Joe Phillips early in the second period only for Callum Griffin and Joe Haines to turn the game on its head at the Trade Tyre Community Stadium.

The result means Stourport sit 10th in the Midland Football League Premier Division table.

After a goalless first half, Swifts broke the deadlock on 48 minutes when Phillips headed Ryan Snape’s cross from the left into the bottom right corner at the back post from six-yards out.

However, the home side drew level on 63 minutes as Griffin fired a first time shot past Dom Richards from Jude Taylor’s lay-off.

And Lichfield completed the turnaround on 73 minutes when Haines finished via the aid of the post at the third attempt after Richards kept out two initial efforts at goal.

Stourport are next in action against Brocton on Saturday, February 22 with kick-off at 3pm at Silkmore Lane.
