YOUNGSTER Liam Banks scored a late goal as Kidderminster Harriers claimed a 1-0 pre-season victory against Stourbridge.
Banks scored six minutes from time at Stourton Park as Harriers claimed a third win from four pre-season matches under new head coach Adam Murray.
Harriers backed up their 2-1 victory against Worcester City with another win against Southern League Premier Central opposition.
The home side went close early on as Jez Abbey fired over the crossbar following a scramble in the box.
Kidderminster grew into the contest as Kurt Willoughby saw his rising effort clear the crossbar.
And George Walker then saw a header comfortably held by Stourbridge goalkeeper Stan Amos.
The best chance of the first half fell to Stour’s Blaine Rowe who could only nod a header over the crossbar from close range.
Chances remained at a premium after the break as a Harriers trialist fired a snapshot over the crossbar.
The home side went close to the opening goal later in the second half as Josh Bishop kept out Abbey’s fierce effort.
However, Harriers eventually broke the deadlock on 84 minutes when Banks saw his strike from the edge of the penalty area dip beyond the reach of the Stourbridge goalkeeper.
The hosts almost found an equaliser at the death when a trialist hit the post before Harriers scrambled the ball to safety.
Kidderminster are next in action against Halesowen Town on Tuesday, July 29 with kick-off at 7pm at Aggborough.
