FORMER Stourport Hockey Club player Lottie Atkinson helped Wales make history at the women’s EuroHockey Championship II tournament.
Atkinson helped Wales to a silver medal at the prestigious international competition in Gniezno, Poland.
Wales lost 2-1 against Italy in the final following a dramatic semi-final victory against Austria.
Wales won all three of their group matches, recording victories against Switzerland, Czechia and Lithuania respectively.
And Wales then scored a last gasp winner to edge out Austria 2-1 and reach the final.
However, Wales suffered a 2-1 defeat against Italy in a hard-fought final.
Despite losing the final, Atkinson and Wales have qualified to play in the top-flight European competition for the time in 24 years in 2027.
And Wales have also secured a place in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Atkinson plays for Cardiff and Met Hockey Club after leaving Stourport at the end of the 2021/22 season.
She helped Wales win bronze at the women’s FIH Hockey Nations Cup 2 competition in Poland.
