A PAIR of under-14 players from Stourport Hockey Club will represent the UK Lions on tour this year.
Stourport teenagers Harrison and Toby will meet up with the rest of the 36-player squad for the first training session this month.
The Lions will then compete in two indoor tournaments in Nottingham.
A warm weather training camp is planned for Malaga in Spain at Christmas.
A tour of Europe will then take place later in the year followed by a tournament in Dublin, Ireland.
The UK Lions is an invitational touring side selected from players competing in the UK at under-13 festivals of hockey.
Harrison said: “I’m really excited to be part of the UK Lions team.
“It’s a great opportunity to play with the best players in the country and play abroad.”
Toby added: “I’m really happy to get this chance, especially after being with the Mercian Marauders team for the last three years.
“Me and Harrison are thankful for all the coaching we get at Stourport – it’s been brilliant and I can’t wait for the first training session.”
