ROWING - Stourport Boat Club celebrate wins at Ironbridge Regatta

STOURPORT Boat Club celebrated a number of victories in a variety of races at the Ironbridge Regatta.

The club were represented by all sections of the club from junior scullers to senior men and women and masters men and women.

The W4+ crew of Emily Appleton, Maude Pavely, Tilly Brothwell and Millie Bird, with Michelle Chancellor at cox, showed their class to claim Stourport’s first win of the regatta.

And the WJ18 2x of Alice Dorrell and Sophie Davis sculled well to cross the line ahead of their opponents.

The masters E 4x crew of Liz Danby, Jules Saunders, Deb Barnett and Sara Peace saw their hard work rewarded with a race victory.

And the masters E 2- crew of Tim Haywood and Pete Spencer cruised to a comfortable win after outclassing their opponents.




The W2- of Laura Collier and Lydia Watson also triumphed while Jane Ryman and Sharon Salter tasted victory in the masters eight with Bewdley.

And Stourport’s men and women’s crews combined to win a thrilling sprint eights event as Luke Barnett, Jimmy Watson, Matt Gould, Nic Danby, Laura Collier, Lydia Watson, Jodie Howson, Sophie Glazzard and Michelle Chancellor (cox) all triumphed.


The sprint races took place the following day as the masters D 2x crew of Nic Dawe and Andy Morris claimed victory.

And the masters E 4- of Sara Peace, Deb Barnett, Jules Saunders and Liz Danby won again to also claim their seconds pots of the weekend.

Sophie Davis and Alice Dorrell also claimed another pot apiece in the WJ18 2x race.
