THERE was plenty of fun for all the family as the Bishops Wood Centre in Stourport-on-Severn celebrated its 50th birthday with a Teddy Bears’ Picnic.

The sun shone down on the anniversary event last Thursday.

As well as the food and drink with their bear buddies, there was also a host of other activities, including pond dipping, a teddy trail, crafts to make and take home and den building.

More than 100 people of all ages, including families and youngsters on their half-term holiday, went along to the event on Thursday.

The picnic and activities marked the half-century milestone for the environmental education centre which delivers programmes for young people of all ages – from reception age to teenagers. They teach the next generation to be more environmentally conscious, the wildlife and habitats around them and how to lead a more green lifestyle.

Vicki Wood, Bishops Wood Centre manager, said: “We had lots of lovely feedback – a lot of people said it was a perfect way to spend quality time with family and friends.

“The pond dipping was a firm favourite as it always is.

“It was a great day spent outdoors, surrounded by nature in the sunshine.”
