'Shocking' Stourport pavement sorted as councillor uses his divisional fund

Ryan Smith 7th Jun, 2026

THE ‘SHOCKING’ state of an uneven pavement in Stourport has led to action being taken.

The pavement along the Kingsway, which was uneven and considered a tripping hazard, has been repaired using divisional funds from Coun Ian Cresswell.

Coun Cresswell took action after being contacted by frustrated residents.

He said: “Living close, I decided to take a close look and was shocked by what I found.

“The path had been dug up multiple times, leaving behind a patchwork of uneven surfaces and trip hazards. I simply had to act.

“The surface of the pavement was terrible, and it had to be addressed.

“Too often we see our neighbourhood being dug up over and over again, leaving behind a mess.”

Coun Cresswell added he intended to speak with Worcestershire County Council’s new Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Highways to see what resources were being allocated to Stourport to safeguard its residents.
