A NEW display of lamppost banners has been installed in Bewdley to welcome residents and visitors to the town.
The colourful collection is part of a wider scheme by Bewdley Town Council to help promote the area and encourage tourism throughout the summer months.
The recently installed banners will be displayed during the main tourism and events season until September. They have been positioned on key routes into the town and within the town centre. They create an attractive visual welcome for those arriving in Bewdley.
A range of bespoke designs has been produced. They celebrate different aspects of Bewdley’s heritage, culture and identity.
The artwork reflects elements of the town’s rich history. This includes the River Severn, Bewdley Bridge and the railway heritage of the town. Sir Stanley Baldwin, historic charters and civic traditions are also highlighted.
The project is part of the town council’s continuing work to support the local economy, encourage visitor footfall and enhance civic pride.
The banners will help create a stronger visual identity across the town during the busy summer season. And the council hopes the displays will help showcase Bewdley as a welcoming and vibrant destination for residents, tourists and day visitors.
The project has been developed through the town council’s projects working group. Permissions and technical assessments were undertaken in partnership with relevant authorities. This enables them to be installed on selected street lighting columns.
Speaking about the project, Bewdley Council said the banners were intended to provide a positive and distinctive first impression of the town while celebrating the character and heritage that make the it unique.
