150-homes plan for Kidderminster's Lions Fields move a step forward

PLANS for a potential 150-home regeneration of Lion Fields are gathering pace.

Wyre Forest District Council has confirmed it is currently looking for a development partner to deliver the residential-led regeneration for the 4.25-acre brownfield site in Kidderminster town centre.

Once the partner has been secured, a planning application will be worked up and submitted.

Works will start after planning permission has been secured – that process is expected to take several months after the appointment of the joint venture partner.

The council has already developed an indicative masterplan for the site, but is encouraging bidders to bring forward their own ideas and expertise through the Joint Venture process.

More than £45million has been invested in regeneration projects over the past five years in and around the Lion Fields site, including the new Talbot Park and the regeneration of The Old Court and The Weaving Sheds.

Coun Dan Morehead, Wyre Forest District Council’s Cabinet Member for Economic Regeneration, Planning and the Green Agenda, said: “We are looking for an ambitious partner who shares our vision for creating a high-quality residential neighbourhood that will bring new life, investment and activity into the town centre.

“Kidderminster offers an exceptional quality of life, combining the convenience of a well-connected town with easy access to the Wyre Forest, an extensive canal network, and an abundance of green spaces.

“With Lion Fields just a short walk from Kidderminster Railway Station and Birmingham only 35 minutes away by rail, the town is well placed to attract a new generation of residents.”
