Cash boost for Stourport's Mentor Link, thanks to Mitton Lodge

Kidderminster Editorial 11th Jul, 2026

RETIREMENT living accommodation based in Stourport-on-Severn has raised funds for Mentor Link, writes Anna Hunt.

And, with the amount collected by Mitton Lodge being doubled by The Churchill Foundation, the charity received a boost of £296.

Helen Cooper, a digital marketer for Mentor Link, attended a coffee morning with Mitton Lodge residents to personally thank them and lodge manager Jan Grimes for their fantastic fundraising efforts.

Jan said: “The residents raised money by holding a couple of raffles and donated in a collection tin.

“We wanted to donate the money to a local charity in Stourport which helped children.”

Mentor Link has been providing dedicated one-to-one emotional, social, and therapeutic support to vulnerable and distressed young people for more than 24 years.

It has built up a great reputation of supporting children back into education and is in partnership with over 80 schools across the Midlands.

The aim of the charity is to provide children with regular one to one support, from professionally recruited, DBS vetted and trained mentors, who improve children’s self-esteem and engagement in learning.

Mentor Link also works in partnership with two educational psychologists to deliver an EBSA project (Emotionally Based School Avoidance) which supports children back into education after periods of absence.

Helen added: “Our trained Volunteer Mentors give up one to two hours-a-week, working with pastoral teams in schools and positively improving young people’s lives.

“As a charity, we are reliant on receiving donations and funding to help with operational costs that charities incur, including the training of staff and mentors.

“We are grateful to Mitton Lodge for choosing Mentor Link, and it was lovely to meet Jan Grimes and some of the residents.”
