All 105 Wyre Forest sites which could soon be built on

A MAP showing all 105 sites that could soon be built upon in Kidderminster, Stourport and Bewdley has been published.

The online map highlights all the areas submitted to Wyre Forest District Council for consideration in its Local Plan.

The council carried out a ‘call for sites’ exercise between the start of October and Christmas Eve.

A further call for potential Gypsy and Traveller sites opened on April 20 and closes on July 13.

These exercises invited landowners, residents and other interested parties to submit sites with potential for development.

The exercise resulted in 105 sites being suggested.

The sites submitted through the gypsy and traveller exercise will be included once it closes in July.

The council has said that, although the map shows sites that have been put forward, it does not mean they are suitable for development, and no decisions have been made.

Coun Dan Morehead, Wyre Forest District Council’s Cabinet Member for Economic Regeneration, Planning and the Green Agenda, said: “We want to be open about the sites that have been put forward so the public can see them.

“However, it is important to understand that the map simply shows land that has been suggested. It is not a list of sites chosen for the Local Plan.

“Just because a site appears on the map does not mean it is suitable for development.

“There is still a significant amount of work to be done before any decisions are made.

“We are sharing this information in the interests of transparency.

“Now is not the time to comment on individual sites.

“There will be plenty of opportunities for everyone to have their say throughout the Local Plan-making process.”

As part of the Local Plan process, the council will decide how much growth is needed and where it should be located.

Each site will be carefully assessed before any are allocated for development in the next Local Plan.
